October: March of Dimes Month

Created by Kayla Cole

Christenberry Collection has teamed up with March of Dimes for a month of celebration and support in October. A portion of proceeds from all sales this month will go toward March of Dimes so we wanted to give you the low down on the organization.

March of Dimes leads the fight for supporting health of all moms and babies in communities across the country. The origination believes that every baby deserves the best possible start in life. Unfortunately, not all babies get a great start and the March of Dimes is out to change that.

From advocacy and education to research, the March of Dimes team is working to level the playing field so that all moms and babies are healthy.

Jenny Moss is joining the month of celebration and support for moms and babies by adding new pieces to our collection:

Preparing for October, we wanted to find someone local that could help us understand what March of Dimes is in our local community. We found Julie Hayward. Julie is the Development Manager for the local chapter of the March of Dimes and we were able to connect with her to learn more about her role and how we can help on a personal level.

Julie gave birth to twins in 2013, Rhett & Eliza. They were born at 34 weeks gestation and delivery went very well. Shortly after both twins were born, they began to spike and drop their body temperatures. After spinal taps were performed on both preemies it was determined they both contracted viral meningitis. They were transferred from the Lexington special care unit to the Palmetto Richland level 1 NICU. Eliza was extremely sick and Julie did not know if she would get better. Rhett was also very sick but fortunately he was doing a little better than his sister. After 7 gruesome weeks in the NICU, the Hayward’s were able to take their babies home.

In 2016 Julie was approached by her neonatologist to be the Ambassador Family for Signature Chefs. Since joining the Signature Chefs team, she has been committed to and passionate about MOD’s mission and the changes they are striving for. She now works for MOD and is the staff lead for Columbia SC chapter. Working for MOD is her true calling in life and she truly feels this is God’s plan for her and her family.

We are so glad Julie took the chance to give back to the March of Dimes. We are also glad some of our artists have given new work to benefit our October mission. Braden Grafe has created beautiful pieces that are now LIVE and included in our percentage donation month:

When a society supports every family, the future is brighter for us all. The March of Dimes and Julie’s team are working to raise $200,000 this year to help with families who need support. We are working to do our part by donating a portion of this months proceeds toward the campaign.
